Vasco Giovagnetti, PhD, MSc, BSc, Springer Nature, UKVasco has significant interdisciplinary research experience in algal-plant biology and microbiology. He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Marine Biology from the Università Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy), and a PhD in Marine Sciences and Engineering from the Università degli studi di Napoli ‘Federico II’ and Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Napoli (Italy). After graduating, Vasco was a postdoctoral research assistant for 10 years, spending 8 years as a Leverhulme Trust postdoctoral researcher in the Biochemistry Department at Queen Mary University of London (UK). Over the years, he mainly studied the working principles, design and molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis regulation in algae and plants. Vasco joined the BMC Series in October 2022 as Associate Editor for BMC Plant Biology, BMC Microbiology and BMC Biotechnology. He is based in the Springer Nature’s London office.

Sean’s research lab studies how human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) sense and respond to microenvironmental cues in making fate choices. Sean’s lab has generated novel mechanistic insight and developed protocols for differentiation of hPSCs to cardiovascular and neurovascular cell types. They strive to engineer fully-defined, animal component-free differentiation platforms, compatible with biomanufacturing of cells for commercial and clinical applications.
Shengying Li, Shandong University, Qingdao, ChinaShengying Li is the Distinguished Professor and Deputy Director of Microbial Technology Institute at Shandong University and the Director for Chinese Society of General Microbiology. Shengying is the receiver of the Young Chemical Biologist Award of the International Chemical Biology Society in 2019. Shengying's lab is interested in natural product biosynthesis, cytochrome P450 enzyme engineering, and industrial strain improvement. Professor Li serves as a member of the International Advisory Committee for the International Conference on Cytochrome P450 since 2019.

Dr. Marko Radic is an Associate Professor in the UTHSC Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry. His research focus centers on the mechanisms leading to autoimmune disease, with an emphasis on disorders that are diagnosed and mediated by autoantibodies. Work from his laboratory has contributed toward understanding the mechanisms of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome, Felty’s Syndrome and Sjögren’s Syndrome. His lab works on recombinant and monoclonal antibodies, chimeric antigen receptors, B cells, T cells and neutrophils. The lab searches for connections between individual protein or nucleic acid autoantigens, their post-translational modifications, immune activation, inflammation and specific disease manifestations.
